As the title states, has anyone managed it yet and if so how did they find the experience? Were the staff keeping to all the requirements stated i.e. £5k in the bank for at least 6 months, letter from employer, hotel reservation etc

Is it worth the hassle of jumping through hoops. I come and go as I please. 30 day on arrival or 60 visa and 30 extension at immigration office if needed. As I do not live in Thailand permanently I consider it none of their business what my bank transaction are and what happens to be in my account.

If you meet all their requirements you will find that the Thai London Embassy is not that restrictive, but helpful as long as you are polite. Everyone's needs are different so it is up to you.

The London staff are very unlikely to do anything much more than the bare minimum and only if they feel like it.
