GPF urges members to save extra money

BANGKOK, 11 February 2016 (NNT) – The Government Pension Fund (GPF) is encouraging its members to save more money with the fund through new service, says official.

The Secretary-General of GPF Board Sombut Narawuttichai has said the GPF is inviting its members to save their pension money with the fund to ensure a sufficient amount of money will be available after retirement.

The GPF now allows its members to deposit money to the fund at the rate of 1-12 percent higher than the normal rate of 3 percent.

GPF members will enjoy the benefit of saving more money by receiving more profits, receiving special tax exemption, and creating a money saving discipline.

Interested individuals can access more information on the new pension saving scheme at the website www.gpf.or.th, or by calling 1179.

From 1 -12 percent then the higher Rate. I think that is a very big range. But it is good for them to tell the Thai people to save money.

Um... there have been many reports about how Thai families are buried in debt, teachers who've run up huge debts.... would seem logical that interest charges on those debts higher than whatever could get depositing money in fund.... I would suggest there is no "extra money" unless he is talking about "extra legal" income.

Wasted words. Thais spend all they have and look to borrow more. Today counts tomorrow and the future not so much.

Hope everyone will listen to this advise. Being retired for

Almost 8 years, never having to look at a price tags travel

And enjoying life. All that saving has, and is paying off now.

Sacrifice a little while working, pays big dividends at retirement.
