Re-entry visa

Featured Replies

Is it possible to get a re-entry visa from any immigration office, or do you I have to go, to the one that issued my retirement extension?

It is a Re Entry Permit and can be obtained at the office where you got your permission to stay or at the airport.

It is a re-entry permit not a visa.

You have to apply for it at the office were you got your extension. You can also get it at either airport in Bangkok 24 hours a day on departure from the country.

So in an emergency a flight could be booked out of Thailand and at the airport on the day of leaving a re entry permit could be obtained. Does it take long to issue ?

In my experience, re-entry permits at the airport have only taken about 20 minutes. I always allow an hour just in case.

This is my understanding as well. Still funny, because im 99% sure the sign says "Re-Entry Visa" on the sign at Suwannaphoom.

Also on the website: http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/1001-re-entry-visa

It does!

Whilst we're on the subject, is the desk in Swampy still operating in manual, supply your own photos, mode?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

From reading this thread it seems they are only available at airports. I'm in India coming back to Thailand in 10 days which will activate my 3rd entry on my tourist visa and want to go to Laos soon after to get a new Indian tourist visa. I would have liked to keep my entry valid after that short trip but am I right to suppose it's not possible if I cross by land to Vientiane?

The airport is not the only place you can get a re-entry permit. Since you will be on a tourist visa entry you can apply at any immigration office as long you have a local address to put on the application form.

There is a re-entry permit desk at the bridge in Nong Khai.

Might I ask why you are going to Laos to get your visa for India. You can get theme here in Bangkok.

I was told in December at the Chiang Mai that they were not available for foreigners without work permits. Others in my situation have also been told something similar in Bangkok. India is making things increasingly difficult.

Removed an off-topic post about a visa for travel to India.

It is interesting how much wrong information and wrong use of terminology about visa and immigration matters there is on the Internet, some even on the website of the Immigration Bureau.

The text on the "Re-Entry Visa" page of the website of Suvarnabhumi airport is risible, makes no sense at all.

For those whose Visa Work Permit or Visa Student Permit has not yet expired and want to travel outside of Thailand, you can file to pause your permit (so the period of your leave will not be included in the duration of your permit)...

Regarding re-entry visa, there is such a thing, officially named non-quota immigrant visa good for multiple return journey(s) to Thailand. A Permanent Resident needs it when he wants to travel outside Thailand so that he won't lose his PR status. It is available at the local immigration office and I do not know if the re-entry permit office at the airport also issues it. Obviously, this is not what the OP meant to inquire about and since he mentioned that he has a retirement extension it was easy to realise that it is a re-entry permit he wants, in his case officially called a non-imm. re-entry permit.

Especially at swampy , good idea to take your photo and form with you. Just download. Note reentry permit at swampy before immigration. At don mueang just after. Quick process esp at Mueang . Good idea have it all filled in. May be out in 15. Clearly better idea to allow more time.
