Ex-Democrat MP demands probe into the suicide of a special enquiry police officer

BANGKOK: Former Democrat MP Watchara Petthong today (Friday) submitted a petition addressed to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha asking him to order a probe into the death of a special enquiry police officer who reportedly hanged himself to death at his house in Bang Khun Thien district, Bangkok Metropolis, early this morning.

The ex-Democrat said in the petition that he didn’t believe Pol Lt-Col Chan Chaisawat committed suicide as reported because the former enquiry police officer had just petitioned the prime minister on February 8 against the complete overhaul of the enquiry police force as ordered by the premier invoking Section 44 of the interim constitution.

Mr Watchara said that he was in contact with the police officer for the last time two days ago. However, he added that on February 8 Pol Lt-Col Chan told him that he was under heavy pressure from his boss after having submitted the petition to the prime minister.

He said he would like to ask for justice from the prime minister on behalf of the dead police officer and would like the Department of Special Investigation to investigate the case and Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunant, director of the Forensic Science Institute, to conduct the autopsy on the dead police officer.

The former Democrat MP claimed that the complete overhaul of the enquiry police force had hurted the morale of enquiry police officers.

I can feel another unfortunate accident coming on. He needs to keep away from, roof tops, verandahs, back alleys, unidentified ladyboys and all aliens.

Note to all Burmese. Make sure you record your whereabouts until this unfortunate accident occurs.

I don't know why he is submitting a letter to the prime minister.

The deputy prime minister already asserted it was a suicide.

Perhaps there was a misprint and he meant to say assisted suicide.

i think there is more to this case than meets the eye is it possible he ruffled a few feathers or his enquiries went a little bit too deep for comfort he said he was getting pressure from his boss maybe he was involved hopefully there maybe an enquiry .

Dont your mean maybe ruffled a few amulets and medals?

The body presents strange wounds on the arm and the place of suicide is quite strange as well.

But as usual the suicide will be ruled, or maybe he had a blood infectioncoffee1.gif

Nah, he was doing a practice run for a Japanese game show.

He was not critical of the government he was critical of the police. That is just as dangerous now as it always has been and has nothing to do with the government. But nice try to spin the blame where is doesn't belong.

Not sure about that

... the former enquiry police officer had just petitioned the prime minister on February 8 against the complete overhaul of the enquiry police force as ordered by the premier invoking Section 44 of the interim constitution.

According to this he was being critical of the PM's order.

Lots of suicides here and many in the highly suspicious category, all very convenient and no one bats an eyelid.

As long as the army is percieved to be aligned with the "right" side the people won't bat an eyelid.

I mean seriously, they were rallying in their tens of thousands frothing at the mouth to get the Thaksins out for some corruption, a lot admittently, but no more than there is now or there was before, despite what some of the sycophantic Junta supporters like to insist.

Now, bring in forced attitude adjustment, trampling of rights, assisted suicides, the prospect of a single internet gateway and all the other shit, and as you say, no-one bats an eyelid.

It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

No matter what is said about Thailand, its governments past and present, the logic we see and hear, the acceptance of the spoken/printed word or rejection of same, its almost impossible to not concede it is one of the most unique countries of the world.

Its kind of like the old farmers advice to the youngster who was complaining about the weather, product price, government support, etc, ''well son this is today, wait until tommow and things will look different''

As long as the army is percieved to be aligned with the "right" side the people won't bat an eyelid.

I agree except tragic is an understatement! I will have to wait for the right thread to post what happened to me the other day. I was astounded, disappointed and the rest and 'hypocrites' just doesn't even begin to explain certain attitudes.

Wrong!

Its just the Thai way of doing things in a constructive Thai way someone interferes in your business get rid someone crosses you get rid someone tries to muscle in on your lucrative way of life get rid.Play with the big boys you have to accept the consequences.

Recent news tell the guy was severly beaten before "hanging himself"
