Tourist VISA after Tourist VISA after Tourist VISA - What are my chances?

Featured Replies

I have been in Thailand since July 10th last year, so a little over 7 months.

I arrived on a single entry VISA (issued in the UK). Since then I have had a double entry VISA issued in Laos and another double entry VISA issued in Cambodia.

My VISA expires in a months time. What are the chances of me getting another single entry VISA from Laos/Cambodia?

Or failing that would it be possible just to fly to Vietnam or Malaysia each month and get a new 30 day VISA exempt entry or will they not allow that?

Thanks inadvance

You could probably obtain another single entry tourist visa in Laos. (Double entry visas are no longer issued)

Attempting to remain in Thailand using visa-exempt entries would be a bad idea.

U just got back from Penang, got my single visa after 2 double ones, and 2 single ones. But i had to show them ticket flying back home. To mention i was rejected in KL.

Embassies / Consulates seem to require further evidence such as maybe proof of funds at the 3rd consecutive one from that place, paricularly if you had extensions as well.

The unwritten "3 in a row" limit can perhaps be bended if you show them "something" = money.

Generally speaking, Consulates have a lighter approach than Embassies. With exceptions, Vientiane being one of them for tourist visas. For now.

Other places will find an excuse not to give you a visa, even if it's your first one (see Kuala Lumpur).

By the time you have a few consecutive ones 2017 is going to be around the corner, and 2017 is not like 2016 just like 2016 is not like 2015.

As Thailand changes day by day and month by month an answer to the question in the title is impossible to give.

Best advice is have 20K or more in cash available (or foreign currency) and an onward flight booking.

I got a double entry from Vientianne 8 months ago, after that expired I did a out/in 30 day which I then extended for another 30 days, I am going to Vientianne next week to obtain a SETV, I do not expect any problems in getting one, there has been no reports of them refusing a second visa, they go on how many you have had from them in the past not how many you have had from other Consulates/Embassies, You should be fine OP

You'll get another 1, 2 or 3 with little effort needed & luck on your side but after that it may get more tricky as it not just consulates giving issue it also likely thai immigration may ask you awkward questions or want additional evidence hard to supply perhaps.

Being you only getting 60 days you soon burn through a few visas so they not a great way to stay here for long. Also with way rules are changing & tantrums at borders it wise be up to date & prepared with some cash & also have a plan b if refused entry .

I think they write on the third one something like: "next time, financial proof needed"

So they're not saying "we won't give you the fourth one", they're saying "bring a bank book something"

But most people prefer to switch to another Consulate / Embassy.

Just curious, as they don't issue them any more anyway:How did you manage to get a double entry in Cambodia, they haven't been issuing them for years?

I was in and out of Bangkok or Phuket for many years, staying on a thirty day transit visa.... And it was all good... Until it wasn't.

My passport has been anoted in Thai, by immigrations, and apparently it says that I need a real visa to enter now.... Anyway... I just went ahead and used my other passport, until I got round to getting a real visa. (seemingly the first passport had way too many Thai entry/ exit stamps)

However... I would not recommend this, as being nabbed by immigrations and threatened with expulsion, is not fun.... Especially in the wee hours of the day.
