What visa options do i have? Please help! Need to extend and apply for new visa

Featured Replies

Hello, i have been in Thailand for 10 months on a triple entry, then a double entry and i have done extensions also (I lost my last entry due to re entering the country two days late for the last entry), i am currently on a 30 day visa on arrival which i will extend in Phuket where i live in 3 weeks.

I need to know what options i have for visas getting a 30/60 day Visa on arrival/single entry or a multi entry visa, Which ones can i get and where must i go from Phuket to get them? Please help. Once i cannot get any of the above visas anymore i will get a volunteer/educational visa.

Feeling quite confused with what i can and cannot do and i do not want to make a mistake. Thanks!

What passport do you hold

You did not get a 30 day visa on arrival (they do not exist). You got a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.

You can go to Penang Malaysia and get a single entry tourist visa after the 30 day extension.

Penang is good option. Another option would be direct flight to udon thani. Then minibus to Vientiane for SETV. Just Google airasia. Flight 1400baht each way.

There is no overall limit to the number of tourist visas you can have although embassy/consulates have their own individual limits. Penang would be your closest option for a single entry tourist visa (SETV), but they will likely limit you to 2 or 3 at the most. After they say no more you can go to Vientiane or Savannakhet, Laos for more. As long as you are prepared to travel there are plenty of places local to Thailand where you can get SETV's.

You cannot get a multiple entry tourist visa (METV) from Thai embassies/consulates local to Thailand. You'll need to apply for that in your home country/country of residence.

Multiple visa exempt entries (30 day) are not a practical way of staying here long term and after too many you could be denied entry.

Thanks for your replies, So if i go to Laos i can get a single entry visa that gives me two months correct? then extend for 30 days? As i really would prefer this!

Also where else can i get a visa like the one i mentioned above? Is Laos the best option for me? Thanks.

The best option is to have a better long term plan because in 90 days of course you will need to do this all over again. I know Phuket is 'loads' of fun but think about the future past 90 days...just some advice from an old fart.
