Hello my visa is about to expire "non immigration (ED) visa" and i want to stay in the country for 2-3 months more

i heard that if i cross the border(visa run) i will automaticly get 30 days (i am from denmark) and i can do that up to 3 times.

I live in Bangsaen(between pattaya and bangkok) and what would be the cheapest/less time consuming option to go on visa run ? there are alot of visa runners in pattaya which charges 2k bath and i takes about a day which i think is to expensive and time consuming.

another option i thought about was to get a turist visa which lasts 60 days, but where do i have to go to get one?? and how long does it take to get issued??

Regards

Patrick

It is a long drive to borders so it takes time. You have to buy a visa to Cambodia so it costs money. Perhaps you can do it cheaper but not very much and it would probably not be worthwhile.

Just do the visa runs to cambodia. Even if you go to apply for a tourist visa, you have to travel out of thailand to an embassy or cunsulate, get accomodation, wait 1 or 2 nights for the visa to be processed, travel back to Thailand ( Thats all costs money as well )

So by doing 2 or 3 cambodia visa runs, it would cost you no more that 2,000 THB each visa run plus only 1 day travel time each visa run.

2 visa runs costs 4000 THB plus 2 days travel and you can stay here for 60 days.

3 visa runs costs 6000 THB plus 3 days travel and you can stay here for 90 days ( 90 days maximum in 180 days )

or the tourist visa which would take at least 3 - 6 days to complete the trip and get the visa, add to that the cost of travel, visa, hotel, food, other expenses....................... Just do the visa runs if your gonna stay here only 2-3 more months.

If your working or doing something similar here, a tourist visa does not make you any more legal that the free visa exempt stamp you will get when you do the visa runs.

A guy I know just took 6 days to get a tourist visa from Cambodia if that helps you make your decision. Embassy in PP kept his passport for 2 nights and the trip there and back took a long time while waiting for connecting busses.
