Two Cambodian women will return home tomorrow after spending almost two years each living in China with abusive husbands, officials said yesterday. Cambodian consular offices in China are helping repatriate the two women as well as a migrant worker rescued from Lao, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.

Chum Sounry, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Sum Bona, 26, from Kampong Cham province, had married and lived with her husband in China since March 2, 2014. She divorced him because he abused her, the official said, adding that she eventually sought help from the embassy to return home. Lun Mey, 26, from Prey Veng, was verbally and physically abused by the Chinese national she wed on August 16, 2013, Mr. Sounry said. He said both women are being well taken care of during the repatriation process, and are being provided with accommodations and meals.

Have dated and spoken to Thai women who were former Chinese wives...their common theme...being treated like a domestic worker...taking care of 1st wife's children, cleaning house, cooking, from daily light until dawn...all the while being yelled at by either the 1st wife or husband or both...little to no time off...and no pay...and after a long day of work...having to perform sexually for an abusive husband...

What's not to like?
