Apologise if this has already been mentioned on another post but could not find it anywhere.

I am currently in Thailand on a tourist visa but have been offered a job. I have been told that I need to leave Thailand and re-enter on a Non-immigrant B visa before starting work, then get a work-permit once in Thailand again.

I am planning on travelling to Yangon to see some friends and arrange the "B" visa whilst there. How long does it usually take, is it a process of walking into the embassy, handing over the documents and waiting a few hours or is it a matter of a few days or weeks??

All the business documents such as letter of employment, company regsitration documents etc. are ready.

However if the company is established, you do not need to leave to change your visa.

1. Application for visa status alteration (TM 86)

Application for visa (TM 87)

2. Copy of passport entries

3. 4 x 6 cm photograph

4. Application fee of 2,000 Baht

5. Company letter requesting for Visa or Visa Status alteration. (Sunbelt will do for you)

6. Employment contract (Labor Dept.)

7. A letter to guarantee to certify commercial registration

8. Company registration certificate.

9. VAT registration certificate and the lists of company Board of Directors.

10. The latest financial statement. (Balance sheets; Profit and loss statement)

11. Company income tax or trading tax returns.

12. Documents evidence of education; job experience of Alien. The diploma must be notarized by the Embassy and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the translation into Thai and the copy of the diploma.

13. Withholding tax records

14. BOI letter applied for changing visa

Is that still applicable if here on an entry stamp and not a tourist visa?? I am only here on a 30 day entry stamp.

Fly to Perth ... bring a real letter from the company with the company chop on it ... your visa fee (225AUD for a multi?) and allow 2 Biz days although there is a good chance you will get it the same day .. possibly even while you wait.

Arrived in Perth the evening of the 11th .. went to the Honorary Thai consulate on the 12th (it moved but is 1 blck from the old one) dropped it off before lunch ... went and got my passport photos taken (forgot them ... no prob .. the assistant said bring one when you come pick it up) ... came back at 1:30 and it was ready...

cheapish flights on Royal Brunei ... but no booze
