Quitting my job but Non-B still valid 2 months after my last date - can I still stay?

Featured Replies

I have a question, guys. I'm quitting my job at the end of March, but my Non-B visa is valid for another 2 months after that. I still don't have another job yet, but expect something to get settled soon.

Now what I'm wondering is, if they take back my work permit, but my non-B is still valid until June, is the visa still valid or will it become void after the company takes back my work permit?

Any advice here would be appreciated, thanks!

If you have a valid visa, obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate, you may continue to use it until it expires.

However, if you have an "extension of stay" (which is not a visa) obtained from an immigration office it ceases to be valid on the day you stop work.

I think you have an extension of stay you obtained at an immigration office not a visa. An extension ends on the date you stop working since that it the reason for it being issued.

I understood, you have seven days to leave the country.

Thank you for the prompt responses.

I'm getting a new 3 month Non-B tomorrow and finishing up my work at the end of this month.

I do not have a extension on my visa, so hopefully that will be no problem. Thank you guys.

There is no 7 days unless it applied for and the fee of 1900 baht is paid. The free 7 days went away several years ago unless working for a BOI company and getting extensions at the one stop service center.

Thanks for shedding light onto this!

Absurd though. One finishes work at 5.45 pm and goes where? facepalm.gif

The airport or nearest border ?

Most would either plan their exit to coincide with the job ending or apply for the 7 day stay.
