Hi!

I'm a swedish girl with a thai bf. Now we are involved in the procedure of applying for residence permit at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok. From their websit I got the information about obligatory documents. Among thing they need the thabian baan (House register) and ID, all translated to english. Can we translate it by ourselver. Or can only a certified translator do this, and is it necessary with a tamp from the Foreign Ministry? I just got different info about this.

Anyone who has experience about this, please sort it out for me.

As far as the British embassy is concerned, translations need to be done by a professional translation bureau. The bureau's own stamp certifying it is a true translation is sufficient and there is no need to get it stamped by the MFA.

I don't know if this is the same for Sweden, though. Perhaps you should ask the embassy?
