Chinese family rescued after luxury yacht washes ashore in Chumphon

CHUMPHON:-- A Chinese family of 8 had to be rescued when their luxury yacht was severely damaged during heavy storms and washed ashore in Chumphon province on Wednesday.

The yacht, which is said to be owned by a Chinese business tycoon, Mr Lee Liao came into difficulty as it sailed from Pattaya to Singapore, where the family had intended to spend a vacation.

Pol. Col. Vithoon Palasarn from Chumphon police confirmed that officers and rescue crews rushed to the aid of the family after their 13 meter yacht washed ashore at Thung Sang, Chumphon.

The boat, which left Pattaya on Tuesday came into difficulty during stormy weather and suffered damage to the steering control, as well as some damage to the boat's hull after it struck rocks.

All 8 passengers escaped without injury, including two boys aged two and five years.

Police provided assistance to the family, helping them find a place to stay and making arrangements for their boat to be repaired.

“Mr Lee and his family are an example of a current trend in rich businessman and other Chinese tourists who travel to Thailand using their own yacht. Lee is a regular visitor to Thailand and also owns a house in Pattaya. His yacht is also registered in Thailand,” added Pol. Col. Vithoon.

Surely,that cannot be the luxury yacht,its a cabin cruiser and with all those

on board,heading for Singapore !, they are very lucky they washed ashore at

Chumphon, an accident waiting to happen I think. wonder if the sailed it down

There is also a sailing yacht which is the more usual for describing a yacht.

From the looks of this motor yacht it would usually have 1-2 tight double cabins....possibly a sofa bed in the saloon as well.

So it must have been very snug for the eight on board.

Actually, it can be described as such, although I understand the point you are making here.

At 13 meters (42 ft) it is something the likes of Roman Abramovich would carry on his afterdeck as a runabout. IMHO it ought to have been referred to as a cabin cruiser. But he is, after all, a Chinese billionaire.

oits a chinese luxury yacht !!

with a 12 meter boat or yacht you can go round the globe,

if you know sailing;

But if you have a Chi DL for their mayority transport vihicles of a bycicle,
