migiglio Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I'm a little bit flustered by all the visa rules. Here's my situation. I would really appreciate any help available. I have been in Thailand since August 19 on a double-entry tourist visa that I got back home in NY before I left. My first 60 days were up last week, and I took a trip to Laos and returned. So I am currently on my second entry, which gives me until December 18. I need to go and visit family in Hong Kong for a week in November. If I leave for a week in China, can I still return and use the rest of my second entry until mid-December? Is this where a reentry permit comes in? Also, I am hoping to stay in Thailand until early March. My plan is to use three 30-day Visas-on-Arrival to do so. Is it possible to pile these on after my tourist visa is expired? Sorry for all the text. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. Mike
lopburi3 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Yes you can buy a re-entry permit to keep your permitted to stay alive. Yes you should be able to obtain 90 days on entry without visa (but only time will tell). You could have obtained another 30 days from first entry and you can obtain another 30 days in December with a visit to immigration for extension of stay upon payment of 1,900 baht.
WilliamIV Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Maybe you could investigate the possibilty of a new Tourist Visa whilst in Hong Kong But in case that is not possible - better to get the re-entry permit anyway There is a Re-entry Permit Counter at the Airport However I prefer not to rely on that - but rather go to Soi Suan Phlu in advance
