I'm looking for a bank/broker where US stocks can be traded (dollar account). Plan is to generate some income by receiving dividends.

Are there any advantages opening an account at a major foreign bank in Singapore while there is a branch in Bangkok?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Poems , philips online in Singapore offer this service I believe. I have never used it so cant comment on whether its any good, fees etc. Usually you get gouged on the foreign currency element. I've used their service for buying and selling Singapore stocks. It's a bit antiquated but works ok.

Agreed - I use Interactive Brokers. Well capitalized brokerage, reasonable fees and access to a very wide range of markets with their universal accounts.

Do your homework, as there are many online brokers out there to choose from..
