ANKARA: -- Two civilians, including a young child, were killed in southern Turkey on Tuesday after rockets were fired over the border from Syria.

Reports from the Turkish town of Kilis say that up to eight rockets landed – all fired from a Syrian region controlled by ISIL, the group calling itself Islamic State.

The dead are said to be a woman in her fifties and a four year old boy. At least two other people were injured.

The rocket fire interrupted a live TV broadcast by Turkey’s state-run broadcaster TRT World.

“The first rocket landed in an empty field. Then, when people started gathering, they started firing around those areas,” local Mayor Hasan Kara told Reuters.

One rocket landed in an area near a hospital, Kara said.

A residential area near a high school was also hit.

Security sources said the Turkish military immediately returned fire.

Well,.......what do you expect. Turkey fires artillery across the boarder shelling Kurdish

troops. Now you have ISIS sending rockets across into Turkey. It was not long ago

the Erdogan supported ISIS allowing western jihadist to fly into Turkey and cross

the southern boarder to join there like minded friends. Turkey should be kicked out

of NATO and isolated. Instead Turkey is being paid billions and fast tracked for EU

membership while suppressing the press, suppressing political opposition and moving

away from a secular government to a hard line religious backed government.

The EU should be ashamed of themselves. Turkey still has to resolve the Cyprus

problem. I shake my head. bah.gif

blah blah blah. turkish citizens are getting killed in the hands of ISIS or kurds in turkish soils and you say turks are shelling them. it looks like they were right to shell them as possibly they sensed some national threat and this happened yesterday!

so fascist Putin Russia can come all the way from thousands of KM away claiming their national security and bomb around plus allow an ethnic cleansing and no problems. plus they dont bomb ISIS and focus on assad opposition, as being lap dog of assad.

and when Turks start to shell some terrorists, is it creating a problem for you?

it is turks' right to do that, shelling some terrorists close to their border sending rockets and even they downed a Russian plane nicely creating an everlasting pain for Russian i guess as their first plane downed by another Nato state in history as a clear lesson like dont intrude borders and dont stir s...t in middle east which is not Russian soil and no historical or geographical ties with Russia.

it is assad and his lapdog russia supporting ISIS by killing opposition plus it is Russian banks and businessman laundering the oil money bought from ISIS by assad and russian businessman which resulted on some ban by USA.

Russian still clear assad's oil money through ISIS what i hear. So if we speak about a support for ISIS, russia is doing well.

if i was russian, sure i feel ashamed to be the lapdog of assad just for some bases and desert land promised. sad really. russian that i know all nice actually but putin, he is a fascist and his followers.

turkey has the second biggest army in NATO and just bc Russian saying, of course they will not be isolating turks:)

and EU, do you think all turks want to be apart of an incompetent union that cannot even agree on what they need to do with migrants and dont even respect each other? and pay the bills of economically problematic countries?

if i were them i dont accept any money from EU and just open the land borders and allow millions of Syrians to march EU actually!
