PHITSANULOK: -- Thailand's most handsome buffalo, Bai Yok, has died on Wednesday from sickness believed to be from frequent travels for shows at various places and heat.

A Buddhism ceremony was held for the seven years old and 1.2 ton bull buffalo at Big Ice Thai Buffalo farm in Phrom Philarm district of Phitsanulok provinces yesterday before it was buried.

The buffalo which won in over 40 contests during the past few years and was valued by its owner Sombat Thamla-ead at five million baht fell sick after returning from a show at Maejo University in Chiang Mai early this month.

Sombat, who is also president of Thai buffalo conservative association, said he raised Bai Yok as a member of his family and his sudden death brought sorrow to the family.

He said Bai Yok might be extremely exhausted from frequent travels in long distance and heat.

He said after the last show at Maejo, he was found to eat less and had unusual digestive system.

It was given treatment but later died at 10 pm Wednesday.

He said its carcass would be buried at his farm for two years, and would be exhumed to make skeleton model for study.

He said his farm still has its semens stored for breeding.

Sombat bought Bai Yok for 1.9 million baht and vowed not to sell it out because he loved it too much.

Bai Yok had great eyes, whole black body, white stripe around its neck and 4 white socks in his legs.

what do people expect !! do they actualy think the buffalo liked going to shows ?

...I guess the parading of this buffalo raised a lot of "donations"
