Top Aberdeen Restaurant to go into Hibernation Due to Oil Downturn

The effects of the oil downturn on oil companies and service companies are well publicised with tens of thousands of job cuts and cost cutting across the sector. It is the knock on effect of these cuts that has caused one restaurateur to announce the closure of what has to be regarded as one of Aberdeens top restaurants.

Stephen Dillon who founded The Prime Cuts in 2007 said: “Corporate trade has just died altogether since the beginning of 2016 with our midweek trade virtually disappearing. Weekend trade has been less affected, but is still down around 30%. Putting them together overall trade has dropped about 60% and is not sustainable at the level of quality that has become expected from The Prime Cuts.”
