BANGKOK: About 500 motorcyclists plus some 1,500 spectators joined the first motorbike race organized by Chachoengsao provincial police, the military and the private sector as a means to discourage street racing which has caused nuisance to the public.

The event took place at about 9 pm on Saturday night on a road about 400 metres long and 18 metres wide leading to the Chachoengsao provincial administration organization in Tambon Bangkaew, Muang district. It was sponsored by business sector in the province.

Pol Maj-Gen Thiraphol Chindaluang, the provincial police chief, who presided over the race staged under the slogan “From Roads to Race Course: Fast Paedriew”, said that two racing events would be organized every month to discourage motorcycle street racers from using roads in the province as their race courses. And this was the first to be held in the eastern region.

He said that bikers who joined the race would have to follow some of the ground rules such as they must refrain from racing on arrival and leaving the race course.

In the future, the provincial police chief warned that any motorcyclists involved in illegal street racing would be dealt with harshly.

In Bangkok behind Seacon center isn't there a race track for motorcycles? Want to stop road racing? simple as pie if caught racing you not only lose license you lose motorcycle. If caught second time you do real time in jail.

Typical, the one on the left,no rear light, there's far too many

running the roads at night with no rear light,or any at all.

No need for a headlight. He has street lights. HE can see just fine. crazy.gif

Nobody else can see him from behind nor ahead, but he can see, so that's all that matters.

Besides, turning your lights on hurts your battery dont'cha know?

Give these kids,a place to actually race that is organized and away from the public, and all you do is moan about a poxy black light?

Not very well organized if the cops don't make them follow common sense rules.

"Turn your lights on at night Sonny, it's the law".

Pretty sure it's the law for them to have their headlights on even during the daytime.

There is usually not that much traffic on a drag strip. For street riding, he can use the headlight switch* to turn on his lights.

*the headlight switch was once fitted to all motorcycles with lights. On motorcycles of that period, the headlight was not powered directly from the alternator and did drain the battery, more so if the engine wasn't running.
