I am changing jobs with my employer in early December, which will allow me to move my thai wife of 6 years and our young children back to LOS. I plan to get a 12 month Non-Imm O multiple entry visa so that every so many months I can bounce back and forth between work and my family. Our goal is to settle down in LOS and work towards getting an RP for myself.

If anyone is in a similar position, will having this visa cause any issues with the third country, the UAE in my case, where I will be staying to work?

I can not think of any reason you having a Thai visa would be a concern of the UAE.

I suspect you were talking about permanent resident status (PR) rather than RP? I would urge you to read the pinned item on this at top of forum. This visa type will not allow it but it is unlikely to be available at any rate if you are not working/paying tax here so it may not matter.

Lopburi3,

Thanks a bunch. I figured it would be no worries but wanted to get a warmer fuzzy feeling. I bass ackwards my key strokes on the PR, so yes, you are correct. We plan on me retiring "early", I'm only 40, before I apply for the PR. I read the pinned posts but really don't quite fully grasp the PR thing. Getting my wife's green card was a pain enough and LOS seems to be very similar. But if I have to I can deal with the 12 month marriage visa jig, I would just prefer the PR status.

I have a fair pension from military service and am only working to build up a bigger nest egg so that we will not have any needs and only the normal minor wants. :o I had promised the wife that we would move back to LOS when she finished her degree which has been a slow process since she is a full time mother and part-time wage earner. She wants to work in LOS and I'll get to enjoy being the full-time dad and house husband.

Thanks again,

Eric
