My blue resident book has no more empty pages so I will be needing a new one. I have been told that I will need to get the book in Bangkok and am looking for a second opinion. Has anyone out there made a new book and,if so, where?

Thx

I thought only Thai had a blue book.

Farangs in a yellow book.

Not the same blue book. He needs a blue book that proves his permanent residency.

At the PR section at Chaengwattana Immigration. The replacement books are white. Only the original is blue.

BTW at Suvarnabhumi you can now register to be able to use the Autochannel gates so that in future (at least at BKK and DMK airports) you won't get any Thai entry/exit stamps in either your Residence Certificate or Passport.

But as a PR you have to have a re-entry permit and I would think you will need the entry/exit stamps in you passport and residence book.

Or lose the PR.

So how would that work with the Autochannel gates?

Because if you leave Thailand for more than a year the PR is automaticly canceled.

Thank you! Any obscure documents required (other than the usual)? Hate to walk in there unprepared.

Pretty sure these are all that are required.

If you are hoping to have it all done in one day, I think it would pay to go first thing in the morning.

You still need the Re-entry/Endorsement and apparently you still need to carry the Residence book. I guess that is in case an official wants to check or maybe the machines aren't working.

When registering, Immigration will place a small sticker in the back of your passport like this

post-215766-0-13239100-1458272719_thumb.

I think the sticker is just to show an official in case they think you are not entitled to use the Autochannel.

There are definitely no stamps in either passport or Residence book when using the Autochannel.

As to the question of what would happen if you tried to exit or enter through the Autochannel with an expired Re-entry, I don't know the answer. At a guess I would say that the system has registered the Re-entry expiry date and needs to be updated each time you renew.

Thanks again!! Not sure what a "certificate of residence is". Would the blue book and Tabien Baan cover it?

"Certificate of Residence" is what is written on the cover of your blue book. It's a bit confusing to call it the "blue book" though because the replacement books you will get from now on will be white. Also Tabien Baan's are often referred to as blue books.

One of my friends calls his the "See page 21" book. That always makes me laugh.

In any case yes, bring both of those. Plus the red one.

Hello,

I am new here, been in Thailand now 6 months and looking for information for Proof of Residency, seen this post so thought I would ask here in the thread.

Will go to Nakhon Si Thammarat Immigration next week to apply for my 1 year Non-Immigration Type-O Retirement visa.

Do I need to ask for these items that are being discussed in this thread, Blue Book, Certificate of Residency, Alien Certificate (Red) ?

The other reason for asking is I also need proof of residency here in Thailand in order to Trade with my broker.

Currently working on getting Electric Bill (Broker requires utility bill) in my name with the address, asking for the name & address in english.

I will also ask about the International Driving License as well, this will be good ID proof for living here?

Any help and advice, greatly appreciated.

This is a topic about a residence certificate for a person on permanent residency. You will not get any of the things mentioned.

Unless you already have a non-o visa you will accomplish nothing at immigration in Nakhon Si Thammarat. If you already have a non-o visa entry you can apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement.

Once you have the extension you may be able to get a certificate of residency. Not all immigration offices will issue them.

Hi SunnyJim5,

I had entered Thailand by air in BKK back in Sept last year with a 90 day Type-O Visa, issued out of USA. I have extended once for 90 Days in Bangkok when I was living there.

Also the staff officer in BKK told my wife that I had to go out of country and come back in before I could apply for the 1 yr Type O Retitement Visa, that was Bullshit.

Well would you believe she told us wrong, came back to Bangkok after the run to Sadeo, saw a different Immigration officer and she said why did you leave and come back?

We explained one of your staff officers told us to do this before I could apply for the 1 yr Visa, the new officer said, OOH, you must have miss-understood her, we said there is

no way we would mistake this advice. My wife wrote down each step she told us to do and read it back to her, I can say I did not want to go out and back in, saw no reason, but we

believed this staff officer and did what she told us to do.

So after this wasted trip to Sadeo run, still talking to this 2nd officer, trying to start the process again for the 1yr Visa, she now says that I must apply in Nakhon Si Thammarat,

the Immigration office in order to get the 1yr Visa. We now find out this is because we moved to Pak Phanang after the Sadeo run to be with her mother, so now have new address

and house documents. I was pissing myself now, what a load of horseshit.

Well now I had to go out again to start the process all over, this time we went to Penang consulate to apply again for the 90 Day Non-Imm Type-O Retirement Visa, I said "AGAIN".

We went to Nakhon Immigration to speak with the officer in charge of this Immigration Office, just to make sure this time it was correct, he was the man upstairs with a big desk and

lots of paper on it, nice guy and spoke english well enough.

He explained everything to us and how to do it, said sorry for what I went through with the BKK information. So now I just have to get my bank to give us certified letter for my account,

the Nakhon office wants it to be the same day stamp to apply for the Visa. We obtained one already for the Penang trip before we went, so we know it's not a problem.

We have returned now about 3 weeks ago with my new 90 Day Non-Imm Type-O Visa, ready for applying for the 1 yr now, finally all correct, money in the bank over 5 months now.

So now was just trying to prepare ahead so I can verify my residency.

I would love to know how you extended the 90 day entry by 90 days at immigration because there is no provision for such an extension to be made.

There is no 1 year "visa" which can be applied for (see post 13)

The immigration office will provide a list of their requirements for an "extension of stay based on retirement" ( It is NOT a visa )

Permanent Residence is permit to stay in Thailand.

You should read this thread :

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?/topic/74654-Camerata's-Guide-To-The-Permanent-Residence-Process

The quick answer is you can not apply for this.

Permanent Residency and Proof of Residency are often mixed up but are not the same thing.

Permanent Residency is a permanent permision to stay in Thailand. ( takes years to get).

Proof of Residency is just a document that shows you are living here, its not a permit or a visa.

So getting the Blue Book, Certificate of Residency, Alien Certificate (Red)

is not going to happen and for a one year non immigration visa/extension not needed.

To make things more confusing ppl also call 2 different documents "blue books" but both the certificate of residency that is what you get once

Permanent Residency is given.

And a house registration book that every house in Thailand has and people (Thai) have to be registered on is also blue. ( foreigners go on a yellow book. Except for those with a PR).

Thai driving license is a good ID but for most things like opening a bank account you will need a passport.

And one last remark any work here requires a workpermit even if many ppl do work online without this its not legal.

I see ubonjoe answered while I was typing but I will leave my post as is.

Hello Ubonjoe and BrianinBankok,

Thanks for the replies, Ok now understand I can't obtain Permanent Residency for about 3 yrs then. Also assumed the 90 Day was a Visa, the 1st one I received in the US before I left, that is the title they gave it.

The 2nd one was an extension then, a little confusing and assumed same name as the first, sorry I was wrong to say it that way.

I came here on 24 Sept. 2015, which was valid until 22 Dec. 2015, but renewed or extended it on 16 Nov, 2015, that was because we not deposit my required funds when I should have done

when I first came here, that was my 1st mistake, but the new extension was now valid until 20 Feb. 2016.

We then made the trip that the staff officer in BKK told us to do, go to Malaysia, (thru Sadao), we did on 22 Jan. 2016, came back on 23 Jan and a new stamp date for 30 days, until 21 Feb.

Then we moved to Pak Phanang after we had returned from Malaysia (thru Sadao) trip. Then I waited until 15 Feb, made a trip back to BKK to apply for the 1 year stay, that is where the new

staff officer told me I did the process wrong, now my 2nd mistake. Told us to go to Nakhon Si Thammarat Immigration office, they explained everything and what I now need to do and stamped

my passport on 17 Feb while I was there for another 30 days, valid until 22 Mar. They told us to go to Penang, Malaysia (Thai Consulate) to apply for another 90 day Type-O Non Imm Visa.

We went to Penang on 8 Mar, I applied and new 90 day visa Type-O, single entry, same as my first one in the US back in Sept last year. I now have a new pasted Visa sticker, good until 7 June.

My required funds of over 800,000 Baht now been in the bank since 1 Nov last year has met the requirement.

I now want to apply for the 1 year stay in Nakhon, the Head officer said they would approve it while I was there, he was very nice man to talk with as well. He also told me they would give me an

international license as well when I come back in for the 1 year stay approval.

As for the working online, not heard about having to have a work permit for that, if that is a problem, maybe I open an account with my broker for my wife and use her.

Now all this has gone off the topic, sorry for that, maybe the moderator moves this thread, I feel I am not done asking a question or 2, but thanks for the help and listening, hope I explained it better this time.
