Digital IP infringements in Thailand on the rise

BANGKOK, 18 March 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has announced it is taking serious actions against digital infringements, following a reported rise in violations.

DIP Deputy Director-General Thosapone Dansuputra said his department will enforce stricter measures to suppress IP infringement on digital media. The DIP will work with the Ministry of Education to include IP infringement in the national curriculum and educate students, in order to prevent future crimes.

The DIP has discovered more than 100 websites with reported violations. Mr. Thosapone said some of these sites cannot be shut down, because they are hosted on servers outside of Thailand. In these cases, it is beyond Thai jurisdiction to order the removal of infringing content or shut them down.

However, 29 locations across the country have been identified as hot spots of IP rights violations. Mr. Thosapone is confident they will be eradicated within four years. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to keep markets along Thai borders under surveillance, following reports of counterfeit products.

No detail at all

Right. Imagine if every Government and School computer in the country had to buy a license for the copy of Windows it is running? Crikey.

Web sites set up solely to criticize the Junta are not IP infringements.................................coffee1.gif

ehherrmm... Unless you get your "facts" from sites that do. It doesnt take a smart guy to find where your IP has been. And since you all go through thai telecom. its all filtered. the NSA is already established here. AND VERY VERY SOON. A las vegas company will make the fastest Hosting servers in thailand.. in a few years... that is.

This law... lol. is really going to be fun.

Give the military a list of corrupt officials.

Give the police a list of corrupt military.

give the government a list of easy IP infringements.

Make popcorn.

Power, money, and notoriety.

I got your back thailand.

IP in this case doesn't mean Internet Protocol but does mean Intellectual Property
As they are talking about digital IP infringements on websites, i would guess they are targeting copy right graphics and possible layouts of the sites. This can also include content being advertised.
Could be wrong......................wink.png
Looks like the DIP's need STICKS added for further clarification........................tongue.png
