Sex Ban will take effect in wider areas beginning January 1, 2007

UTOPIA: -- The spokesman has affirmed that from January 1st, 2007 onwards, sex in such public places as bus stops, public parks, and transport terminals will be banned completely.

Sex in a private environment such as hotelrooms is still under discussion since it will be difficult for inspectors to control such a behaviour.

Speaking after launching the no-sex campaign focussing on the danger of sex on close family members, the spokesman said that as from January 1st, 2007, the 69th health announcement for this year which extends non-sex areas to more public places, would take effect.

The law forbids sex in transportation terminals, public parks, bus stops, sports stadiums, hotel lobbies, and traditional massage parlours.

Violators would face a maximum fine of 20,000 Cents. The spokesman stated that members of the society have an important role to ensure the effectiveness of this law and therefore asks the public to cooperate and report such indecent behaviour immediately to the proper authorities.

Therefore, officers will take immediate action against violators once the law is enforced.

It still is to be discussed whether tourists, who have already pre-booked their holidays during the high season, are to be exempted from this law.
