I have an Investment visa, 1 year, multi entry. I do not have a work permit and have not produced any revenue either in the states or here during my stay thus far.

My stamp is dated Sep 1

valid until 29 Nov 2006

So, sometime prior to the 29th, I will find some martial arts event worth filming in a neighboring country and hop a flight to go film.

Or, I may just find a cheap weekend away for a much needed vacation.

Based on this information, as this is my first ever visa run, is there anything I should know about ahead of time?

I'm sure this is common, but doing a search for 'Visa Run', is pretty funny.

Any links appreciated, as well as help.

I presume you hold a visa extension based on investment already and that you want to extend with another year. This extension you do IN the country - you go to emmigration with the same papers as used at last extension application (condo/cash deposit/bonds) prior your visa expires.

Note: as NEW investment visa (extensions) applications have been stopped (but given visas will continue to be extended) you should NOT let your current extension lapse - better go in good time - I went 30 days before.

Cheers!

edit: I have a 1yr multi entry nonIm B and 29th Nov will be the first date for the 90day run (I think I said that right...)

I may have mis-spoke than.

It's a NonIm B and only that is stated on the stamp

On the Visa Application, I entered Investment oppertunities, which is true. At this point however, I'm still conducting research, and am not prepared to register as an LLC.

It was my understanding that as it is for 'Investment oppertunities', it's basically for research, which it is, and has no financial stipulations.

Can I not just cross borders?

oO(seeing an upcoming call to an attorny...)

Ok - I understand. ("Investment visa" is an often used term for the 3M Baht invested in kingdom program now stopped). You have a non-Em B as you mention. You will go for the visa run and return prior 29th for another 3 months stay. You should not have any issues with the new visa rules.

For a NEW multiple entry non-em B visa you would normally have to go to home country and re-apply (at friendly consulate maybe :o ).

Cheers!

You just leave before the 29th, enter another country and return at your own timing.

Theoretically, a person wouldn't want to leave earlier than necissary, as that would, in turn, reduce the total amount of days legally in country. Correct?

nope ..

notcorrect ...in fact if you leave and re-enter the day before the visa expires (9+more months) you will get 3 more months (15 total)

My thinking, was that, if I were to leave on, say Nov. 10th, would my stamp not be for the 10th Nov + 90days. (but how about re-entry prior to the date of the 29th, or must one let that day pass prior to re-entry...) sorry....

Maybe I'm just overanalysing the situation.

I greatly appreciate the help, and am glad to know this won't be a difficult matter.

you can come and go as you please until the end of your visa .... but you must exit the country every 90 days ....you can go every week ... and every time you return you will get 90 days .... you can leave and return the day before your visa expires and get 90 days .....

you can exit and return twice in the same day ......

when you exit they stamp you out ... you then must enter and return from a different country ...

Your stamp will always be for 90 day from the date you enter the country. What you did last week or this morning has no effect. You are free to enter/exit as you wish during the validity of the visa and can stay up to 90 days. The visa is only used for entry - the permitted to stay 90 days is what allows you to stay here.
