90-Day Non-Immigrant Visa for Thai Marriage

Featured Replies

I see this Non-Immigrant Visa is required to marry a Thai.

  • You must obtain a 90-day visa or a 1-Year Non-Immigrant O visa from your home country or country of residence prior to your application for the Thai marriage visa. (The 90-day Non-Immigrant visa may be obtained from nearby countries in Thailand.)

I looked up the instructions to get one, and it said this:

  • A passport with at least 6-month validity from the date of your intended arrival in Thailand.
  • An invitation or confirmation letter to clarify the purpose of travel issued by the concerned organization.
  • Additional supporting document requested by the Royal Thai embassy or consulate.
  • Proof of financial funds and travel itinerary.
  • Embassy fee.

What is the "invitation or confirmation letter" and the "additional supporting documents" and where do I apply for this type of visa? Any help is greatly appreciated.

you can marry on any visa or a visa exempt entry,

after you are married you can obtain a non immigrant 'o' visa for being married to a Thai national. either single or multi entry

there are no marriage visa's, but after marriage and with a non imm 'o' visa, you can obtain a 1 year extension of stay based on being married, financial requirements apply

Lots of errors in the info you posted. Where did you get it from?

You don't need a non-o visa to get married and you cannot get one until you get married.

You can apply at a nearby embassy or consulate (dependent upon your nationality) for a non-o visa based upon marriage to a Thai, You just need your marriage certificate plus a copy, signed copies of your wife's ID card and house book registry.

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry the visa will allow you can apply for a one year extension of stay at an immigration office. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

Ok, so the first step is getting married. I have been with my girlfriend for 6 years. Everywhere I read seems to say I can not be on a TR visa to apply for marriage certificate.

Thanks for any help you can provide, the information I posted was from this website: http://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-visa/Thailand-Marriage-Visa.php

Is there a step by step guide to getting married somewhere that does not involve lawyers? I would rather go through the steps and file the paperwork myself if possible.

Embassy's often have a page which details how to get married in Thailand there is an example in the link.

It is best to avoid seeking information from commercial websites they often provide misleading and "mistaken" information.

from memory

obtain affidavit from your embassy, supplying all documents required

have it translated( keep some copies of original and translation) can be done at MFA ,i believe

get it certified by MFA

get married ( they will keep original of embassy affidavit)

obtain any non imm 'o' visa as and when needed

You don't need a Visa or a lawyer.

It is cheap and easy.

Your Embassy website should have full details.
