Lost photocopies of passport, visa page and exit entry status

Featured Replies

I was out running errands yesterday and noticed that I did not have the 3 photocopies of passport's main page, copy of visa and last entry with permission to stay until date. I believe I lost them in the back of a songtheaw. I doubt copies can be used by the average Joe, but this info can be used by bigger fish.

Anything I should do? Report this to US Consulate?

Personally I wouldn't worry and certainly there is nothing worth reporting to anyone.

At immigration on more than one occasion I've been given scrap paper of other people's passport copies!

Unless you are planning on cancelling your passport theres no point reporting it. I doubt there is much, if anything, anyone could do with the copies or information.

If the copies that were lost did not have your signature appended, they are less than useless. In my experience, when using a copy of any part of your passport as personal ID for opening an account, getting a driving license, renting and car or house, etc,, in order for them to be acceptable, they normally request that you sign the copies in their presence. It's a Thai thing and the locals all have to similarly be witnessed signing copies to validate them.
