Opposition lawmaker and head of the National Assembly’s commission on human rights, complaints and investigation Eng Chhay Eang has called on Assembly President Heng Samrin to reject a request to summon CNRP acting president Kem Sokha over the infidelity recordings scandal.

Chhay Eang’s committee received the request to grill Sokha on Friday from a group of purported students, whose motives for haranguing the opposition leader over the affair remain murky.

The group has accused him of corruption on the basis of references on the recordings to gifts promised to purported mistresses, as well as human rights abuses, stemming from a reference to abortion.
