Hello,

I read this website for some time now and find alot of useful and interesting information.

Anyway, i tried the search box but could not find an answer for my question.

Visa run from phuket to satun cross the border to malaysia and return straight back into thailand.

I have a multiple entry non-o based on marriage with a thai national.

Question did anyone do a visa run from phuket to satun and than go over the border?

What can i expect at the border thai and malay side?

Yes i know about ranong crossing, but the visa run company that i booked don't use that crossing anymore.

I'm just wondering what to expect at satun crossing, because in ranong i hear at both side of the borders they want tea money whatever visa you have.

Wel that is what the visa run company i use tell me, that's why they not go there anymore.

You should not need to pay tea money since you have a valid visa for re-entry t the country.

I have never been to ranong crossing so i have no experience there, but that is what the visa run company told me about the reason why they not go to ranong crossing anymore, customers complaint about it.

So they advised me to go to satun.

Yes i know about my visa, normally i always used the cambodia border when i lived in surin.

Getting to the border In Satun (Wang Prachan)...Good luck with that if you don't have your own transport.

I use a visa run company here from phuket with minibus.

Oh, sorry, I didn't realise there's a visa run minivan to Wang Prachan. You shouldn't be fine, bit of a long haul though.

If you have already booked the border hop through a visa run company, all I can do is offer my condolences. Do not let the experience tempt you into overstay in future. Just be smarter next time. Booked in advance Phuket->KL->Phuket flights the same day cost about the same as the nightmare you are about to experience.

At Satun you take the ferry to Langkawi, nice one hour ride. Check the ferry website for the schedule, goes about every two hours. Thai immigration at the ferry dock, Malaysian at their ferry terminal (large place). I have not done that in several years but very simple and no tea money anywhere. Bus from Phuket bus terminal to Satun, then take a motorcycle taxi to ferry.
