Hi, I don't have a foreign drivers license, or car. Where can I get an instructor to take me out for a couple of lessons and explain what I need to know to pass the test and supply me with a car to do it in?

I already know how to drive, but haven't done so for a couple of years, so just require a quick refresher course on Thai roads and advice on the theory test. I live in Thonglor, so the closer there the better.

Thanx

Konangrit

Well if you dont have a car why would you want to learn to drive? Anyway bangkok has very good public transport, I've driven in bkk before and its a nightmare better stick with taxis and the bts,

hope tihs helps

btw if you cant speak thai being pulled by the police can be a real problem. Be warned

How can that help? He asked a simple question and got yet another useless reply.

Good work.

If you can get your hands on a yellow pages they will have driving schools in them

Well, I don't have a car as I don't have a license ..... I have my eye on a nice little Beamer, but need a license to buy, register, and drive the thing.......

Public transport good in Bangkok? Well, anywhere along the BTS or MRT sure, but how much of BKK does that cover, and what about when I want to drive outside of Bangkok?

Also, how can I pose on public transport? It's not exactly a lady killer.

BTW, I speak Thai, getting pulled over by the police is not a problem whatsoever, even if you cannot speak Thai.

Why did you feel the need to post this unhelpful and inaccurate advice?

Thanx JD, and MR also for realising what a pointless reply the first was.

I was hoping for an address or website, but if not I will call the number supplied in the link you gave, but would prefer not to as it does seem a little unprofessional, of course, I may well be wrong. :o

If you're a falang? It's not the best place to drive whatever your race, it's a congested city. Please don't post ignorant claims suggesting that you will have problems driving in Bangkok just because you are white, especially if you don't even drive and only have experience of travelling in Thai driven taxis and mass transport systems.

My god OP, calm down if you drive like you post you'll be arrested for road rage in no time!!

So much for me trying to say sorry, stick ya beamer where it belongs.

As a previous poster mentioned, I would say the driving school on Thonglor by the BTS, esp since you live in the area. Did you try the other numbers at the end of that other TV link?

For the record, the correct terminology for your ultimate driving machine is "bimmer"... just so you're in the know before you join the club :o

Hehe, thx ling and teej, just what I was after, probably should have noticed that, but walk around daydreaming most of the time.

Funny you say I used the incorrect terminology, when I saw that I typed "Beamer", I was sure that I spelt it wrong, and it should have been "Beemer". Well, yeah, should have been that as first hit on google for "Beemer" is www.bmw.com. Heard Bimmer before too. :D

Summer, peace, I over-react occasionally, sorry. :o

No problem. Good luck on the BKK roads... :o

Technically, beemer is for the bikes, bimmer is for the cars... but whatever floats your boat, cuz it's still a great car!!!

Learning to drive in Bangkok will not help, there are so many people on the roads who just do not have a clue about driving. you might as well just get stuck in and go for it, keep your eyes open and use your mirrors, Bikes are the ones to mind mostly.
