webfact Posted March 29, 2016 Share Posted March 29, 2016 DSDW regulates homeless people, beggars in Ko Samui IslandSURAT THANI, 30 March 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Social Development and Welfare (DSDW) is continuing its second day of regulating beggars and homeless people in Ko Samui Island, after reaching an agreement on the new draft Beggars Control Act, says the DSDW chief.DSDW Director-General Puttipat Lertchaowasit presided over the guideline meeting for persons under the dependency protection system development, with cooperation from the Ko Samui City Municipality.From his observations, he revealed that the conditions of persons with dependency in Ko Samui Island are not severe and controllable, with no beggars found. Field observations had instead identified the homeless in the area as street performers.This meeting will seek to formulate the regulation procedures for beggars, elaborated through the municipality's engaging role, according to the new draft of Beggars Control Act, which will provide support to persons in need.Authorities are required to work together to develop the working plan of the persons with dependency protection program.
