Quick question.....

Does an elite card allow me to do such things as open bank accounts, credit cards and purchase vehicle insurance policy's etc?

In the past, I always had to show my work permit to do such things so can I still do everything like that?

All that should be possible.

I think that one of the perks from Elite membership is that they will help if you have problems with such things that you mentioned.

One would expect to be allowed to do such things after shelling out that much money on a visa.

I see no benefit if it means you can't live a normal life here by way of banking and driving etc which are everyday necessities.

Thailand Elite do have connection with Bangkok Bank. http://www.thailandelite.com/privilege_detail.php?id=150&t=9&name=Banking. But generally opening a bank account and getting a credit card are purely down to the bank/branch you open an account at and having the Elite membership isn't going to make much difference. If anything many bank branches wouldn't even know what it is.

In the past one had some dodgy landlords who required a work permit to rent to...

Gotten finances deals to buy new cars etc

Medical services and all that....

I am just guessing, but I also don't think most thai people would have a clue what an elite card is and what it entitles the bearer too..

Some things that need wp and 6 months of dated payslips etc I can't see elite card being accepted myself.....

Why would most Thai people care one way or the other? For most Thai people it has nothing to do with them.

It seems, after reading TV for many years, many farang who have been here for years and have a vested interest in such things, don't have a clue what a visa, extension of stay, permission to stay, re-entry permit, etc are ... and I'm not guessing.

And some TV pundits assert All Visas are null and void on entering the Kingdom.

Wrong!

E.G. Multiple entry OA Visa.

All single entries are.
