Multiple Re-Entry Permit

Does a Multiple Re-Entry Permit remain valid, to the date shown in the passport, on conversion from one type of extension (work) to another (retirement). The second extension postdates the first, which might complicate things, I suppose - the current re-entry date stamp and the current extension date stamp don't match.
