Need help with visa information!

Featured Replies

Ok so my visa expires this Monday the 11th my first question is the immigration in hua hin open seeing as how songkran is the following weds and can I extend the day it expires or do I have to go in before the expiration?! Thank you!

You don't need to wait until the day it expires so you can go tomorrow if you want to.

It will be open on Monday anyway as it's not a holiday.

I suggest you go tomorrow to avoid any big rush before they close for Songkran.

Also worth mentioning that you gain nothing by waiting. The extension starts when the current permission to stay ends, not when you make the application for the extension.

What type of visa do you have that gave you the entry you want to extend?

So if it expires on the day of the 11th I'm still ok? That's what I was worried about. Applying for 30 day extension after coming back from us. Cause I won't be able to make it until the day of expiration

Assuming you have permission to stay until April 11th.

  • Immigration will be open tomorrow (8th) and Monday (11th) and you can apply on either day.

I think UJ may have asked the critical question. What visa did you enter on for your extension of stay, and what is the basis of your request for an extension. I think most of us assumed that you were on a visa exempt entry or entered on a tourist visa, looking for a 30-day extension of stay. Your most recent post suggests that you may already be on a long term extension of stay and coming back just before the 11th on a reentry permit. Either way, you can apply on the 11th in principle. However, if looking for an extension of stay for retirement or marriage, it is a bit scary leaving it until the last day. You do not know what documents immigration might request.

There are no 30 day tourist visas so I assume you must have a 30 day visa exempt entry. You can extended that by 30 days for a fee of 1900 Bht at an immigration office.

You should apply for the extension prior to your permission to stay expiring.
