Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi. I am a 36 year old Canadian who will be going to get a 3 month visa tomorow at the consulate here in Toronto. Will I be able to extend the visa once it expires? Will visa runs be an option? I want to train at a Muay Thai camp and 3 months aint quite enough time. I also plan a few weeks of travel in Lao and Cambodia, will I have much of a probelem getting back into the Kingdom after? My flight leaves from BKK.

Thanks in advance.

No, you cannot extend the 3 months, but if you leave the country at the end of the 3 months you will get one more month on return. (the restriction on border runs shouldn't apply to you since you wont' be going to the border every 30 days- they are now restricting those people so that you can only do that 3 times in a 180 day period, you should be fine).

You might discuss it with the Consulate in Toronto, ask for a double entry tourist visa. This gets you two months, you extend one more month, trip to the border gets you two more months. Which, the next time you leave and re-enter will get you 30 more days.

Its a 2 month tourist visa I applied for, I dont know why I was thinking when I posted 3 months. So I can do up to 3 visa runs then. Cool that will give me plenty of time to do the things I need to do. Thanks.
