Is the DFAS letter good as is?

If you are looking for income verification source, yes it is good. However, you wont need it at the embassy as they do not check when they produce your letter.

I don't understand... Why would they not? Also, the police check. Will my local city check be sufficient? One more, do I need to be in Thailand for 30 days to get the retirement visa or can I get it within 14 days if everything is in order?

Hey thanks! I really appreciate your help

If you are going to a apply for a OA visa at the embassy in DC or one of the official consulates the letter should be enough.

If applying for an extension of stay here at immigration you would need to do a income affidavit at the US embassy in Bangkok or the consulate in Chiang Mai.

If you are in Thailand no police ck required. Where you are when you apply makes all the difference to your requirements

If you are applying for an extension of stay here you do not need the police clearance or the medical, Those are only needed when applying for a OA visa.

If you do not have a non immigrant visa when you enter the country you would need to apply for a one at Bangkok immigration. You would need at least 15 days remaining on your entry to apply for it.

After you have a 90 day entry from a non-o visa or the visa form immigration you would apply for the extension during the last 30 days of your entry.

I thank you.

Took my LES to AMEB BKK first time and like it says here, not needed. You swear or affirm true and correct, sign, pay, off you go.

I also kept LES in my notebook at Immigration when using income letter in the past, but they've never asked for it.

Good Ruck!

If you are in a position to get the O-A visa, then you may want to do so.

In my case, the police and doctor reports were very easy to get.

The O-A visa can get you nearly 2 years of stay in Thailand.

You will not have to worry about getting extensions or showing any money in a Thai bank for the duration of the O-A visa.
