Hit and run driver "arrested" by public in Pattaya Beach Road drama



PATTAYA:— A spirited member of the public chased down a hit and run driver who left a Russian tourist with a head injury.

The accident happened when Nicolai Chubares, 31, was crossing Beach Road outside Pattaya police station. He was left with a head injury after being hit by a Nissan Almera with Khon Kaen plates at around 3.30am on Friday.

Witnesses said the driver, named as Uraiporn Kongsung, 25, from Khon Kaen, sped up but was chased down by a member of the public. A citizen's arrest was made one kilometre down the road outside McDonalds.

Police and medical personnel found the Russian pedestrian being attended by passersby on the sidewalk. He came round and was treated. He refused further medical treatment at hospital.

Uraiporn was taken in for questioning. Her foreign boyfriend was also in the car in the passenger seat.

1. They just don't want to take responsibility.

2. Drunk or drugs.

There is a pedestrian zebra crossing on Beach Road in front of the police station. If Comrade Nicolai was using it to walk across the road, he should have known better. Thai drivers only stop for zebras.

As there are clearly only about 25 members of Thaivisa in total it's very unlikely that he would be one of them.

How do you know what was going on in the car between the driver and passenger to know that he is an arse hole (or a prick, make up your mind)?

Not totally true. Some Thai women are good drivers. My wife is an excellent driver and even passed the UK Advanced driving test

crossing 3 lanes of traffic on beach road is an accident waiting to happen, the last time i tried it a tuk tuk in the third lane accelerated to cut me off. the driver thought that it was a great joke.

vehicles dont stop for lights on beach rd, thats why they removed them. there are only orange lights working there now

When the City ripped out the big beautiful trees and built another lane, the beachfront turned into an expressway between the tourists and the beach. Smart.

Now the cars go faster and the tourists have more lanes to cross.

City planning at it's finest. Beach is for cars, not people. Got it.

My friend in Australia has a Thai wife & she is a very good driver.

She drives a big car(Ford Fairlane) very well.

if you had just done a hit and run, and i was a passenger in your vehicle .

You would stop, regardless, i would stop you. !!!!!!!! this is what this person should have done.

Because a trip to the hospital would take several hours, probably a cost until the fee

could be recovered from the driver and most importantly it would interfere with his

night of merriment. I do hope he really is OK and had a successful conclusion to his
