I want to stay 6 more months...what should I do ?

Featured Replies

Hi, I need advice and thank you for helping me.

I am 62 yo,,brazilian and retired..

I have entered Thailand SEPT/2015 under a exempt visa entry for 90 days, after being in Europe for 2 months. Before that in 2015 I had 2 entries using exempt visa entries.

In December/2015 went to Penang for a SETV,extended it until March/2016.

March/2016 flew to KL and back and enter with a 90 days exempt visa entry, this permits me to stay until MAY/2016.

I bought a ticket to Brazil for NOVEMBER/¨2016 ,and returning to Thailand Feb/2017.

My questions are : Can I go to Penang again for a SETV and when finish fly again to KL ? Or go to Penang 2 more times ? Or not possible at all ?

PS: Everytime I cross immigration in Phuket, they scan my passport and immediately put me aside ask me a lot of questions and say that next time I will need a visa.

Thank you all very much, sorry for bothering you.

Isac.

You can get another single entry in Penang without a problem.

Alternating between tourist visas and 90 day visa exempt entries looks better than doing visa exempts all the time.

Perhaps you could try and get a multiple entry tourist visa while back in Brazil. You also qualify age wise for a OA visa. If you have the ability to show 800k in a bank in Brazil you could get the OA visa there.

A combination of pension and savings totalling 800,000 Bht will get you a 12 month extension for retirement at Immigration.

Or an O-A visa from Embassy in Brazil

Put a little bit more in the bank.

Your pension and your cash is about 799,000 Thai baht right now, which should be enough. But the always changing Thai-dollar exchange rate could make it difficult. The American economy doesn't look good now. .

No idea if the Thai embassy in Brazil would do that. I'd better look for a Thai consulate, much easier to get an extension there.

By my calculations, US$12,000 + US$10,800 per year pension makes you borderline for the 800,000 baht needed for an extension of stay on the basis of retirement under the combination method. It would depend on the exchange rate they decided to use.

If you have money in the bank and an annual income totaling 800k baht you can apply for a OA visa in Brazil or an extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration here.

Using your example the money in the bank comes out to be a little short using an exchange rate of 35 baht to the dollar.

The Consulate in Savanakhet, Laos is (was) always 'helpful'. You might want to see if they are still helpful and consider going there.

Your pension and your cash is about 720,000 Thai baht right now. But you would have to have an income of 800,000 Thai baht.

You get extensions from Immigration.

Not Consulates.

He wont get a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa from there.

They certainly will not do a multiple entry non-o for retirement.

The only Place that has done them is Penang and that is only if a person had the financial proof to get an extension of stay. Best to get an extension in that case.

"The American economy doesn't look good now. "

Compared to what? Europe? Japan? Russia?

I agree that fluctuating exchange rates mean that someone needs to plan on having more than the minimum on hand, but don't think the state of the us economy is a major concern in the equation. Presumably his Brazilian government pension isn't paid in US dollars anyway.
