PHUKET: -- It’s a long weekend ahead for many as the Kingdom prepares to cerebrate the 2016 Songkran Festival from Wednesday (Apr 13) – Friday (Apr 15), and many offices will be closed across the island during the holiday period.

Government offices including Phuket Immigration Office, District Office, Employment Office and Land Transport office are all set to close thought the three-day period, along with Post Offices and smaller bank branches. However, banks in major shopping malls will only be closed on Wednesday and reopen as normal on Thursday and Friday.

Local consulate offices will also be closed throughout the festival period, but will be available to answer emergency phone calls.
