webfact
We love you! 108 year old Thai woman receives joyous Songkran blessingsImage: ThairathShe was born when King Chulalongkorn or Rama 5 was still on the throne of Thailand! And credits a simple North Eastern diet - and no meat - for her longevity.UTTARADIT:-- A huge crowd turned up at the house of Im Meechon to show their respects at the start of the Songkran holidays. Im is the oldest person in the province of Uttaradit.Im, who is still in possession of all of her faculties, was born in 1908 and has seen five different kings on the throne of Thailand in her 108 years, reports Thairath. Many of her 84 descendants - that came from eight children - turned up to sprinkle scented water on her hands and give and receive blessings, the traditional way to celebrate the Thai New Year with elders.Even Uttaradit governor Surasak Charoensirichot put in an appearance Monday praising Im for being a shining example to others after the icon of Phichai district had walked down unaided to a special pavilion set up in front of her house to the cheers of hundreds.Im cried, not with the effort but with the sheer joy of the occasion! Her diet? Im does not eat meat and likes traditional north eastern fare such as 'nam phrik' (a condiment made with shrimp paste) boiled vegetables and bbq fish. She eats a variety of curries that can be made from foraged ingredients familiar to local people.Last year Im received a royally sponsored shield from the Aged Persons Association of Thailand for being an example to others. She can both see and hear very well and can perform all bodily functions unaided. It is said she remembered the faces of all her dozens of relatives who turned up to give their blessings to mum, gran, great gran and great great gran! There are 32 people aged 100 - 108 in Uttaradit but Im is the oldest.Source: Thairath-- 2016-04-

Siamwhiteelephant
fish and shrimps are meatI think you will find the term is flesh for fish and shrimp. In gastronomy, which is what this side issue concerns, fish and seafood is referred to as ‘white meat’. Have you ever seen fish and seafood listed under ‘flesh’ on a menu? Anyway, hope Im has a happy, celebratory Songkran.
