Student visa with multiple re-entry (now graduating soon)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I have some questions on an expiring NON (ED) visa.

I have NON ED visa expiring on April 30, and I have to attend some event before graduation (that is in September) on May 2.

Currently, I have completed my study program in Mahidol University since a week ago.

I am planning to work in Thailand, so right now I have no idea what to do with this student visa.

I was suggested to go out of Thailand and come back with 3-month tourist visa.

However, I also have a multiple re-entry that will expire along with my student visa.

As what I had done before with my high school visa (no multiple re-entry), I just had to go out of the country to cancel the student visa before it expired. But I am not sure what to do because of the multiple re-entry.

Do you suggest any method to proceed the cancellation of visa without any problem or overstay charges?

Thank you in advance!

You need to get a letter form the university stating your studies have ended and go to immigration to have your extension and re-entry permit canceled. The letter would need to be dated on or after the date you go to immigration. If you go before the date on the letter they would post date the cancellation which would give you time to leave the country prior to the cancellation date. If not you could apply for a 7 day extension, pay 1900 baht baht and be given 7 days to leave the country.

The university actually suggested me to overstay. I was quite surprised at their response too.

I will try asking the university again for the letter though.

So I will go cancel both my student visa and re-entry permit and get out of Thailand before April 30.

Then I would be able to get my tourist visa (Koreans get 90 days) when I come back to Thailand to attend the event (May 2), right?

Thank you :)

You will not get a tourist visa.

Korean nationals receive a 90 day visa exempt entry (based on a Bi-Lateral agreement)
