Latest on spate of robberies in Chonburi area

PATTAYA: -- Police suspect that two gangs are at work in a spate of robberies to hit the Chonburi area in the last few weeks.

Top brass met with local cops to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing investigations into two armed robberies of staff in Chonburi town and Pattaya and two attempted robberies of ATMs in the area.

The latest outside a Big C branch of Siam Commercial Bank in South Pattaya netted 8.8 million baht.

Shots were fired as a lone gunman on a motorcycle held up two employees of the Samco security company in broad daylight. One shot hit the back of the cash van. The robber was caught on CCTV fleeing towards Chonburi.

Panya Mamen advisor of Region 10 police attended a meeting of provincial officers to discuss progress in the enquiries. He said that evidence so far showed that they were likely dealing with two individuals or two gangs.

He said that attacks in Chachengsao were likely to be the same person but the others were someone else. Investigations are ongoing with likely associates of those involved in the robberies in the Chonburi area.

Obviously a meeting of compelling and serious significance judging by all the smiling faces and the engrossed attention of the officer sat to the extreme right of Khun Maymen.

The cop on the left is phoning his friend from the 8.8 million baht hiest and saying to him "they haven't got a clue". Meanwhile the copper beside him is overly excited at his new pair of reading glasses.
