Watana invited again for attitude adjustment

BANGKOK: -- Former commerce minister Watana Muangsook of the Pheu Thai party has been invited by the military for “attitude adjustment” following his public announcement rejecting the Constitution Drafting Committee’s draft constitution.

The core member of the Pheu Thai party said he was supposed to be escorted by a team of military officers from his residence at 5 pm Wednesday but, fortunately, he was not at home. However, it was agreed that the officers would pick him up at his home on Thursday at about 2 pm.

Watana posted a message in his Facebook page announcing his objection to the draft charter. His message reads as follows: “I feel uncomfortable with the attitude of the prime minister who expressed his frustration with the two major parties which oppose the draft charter and demand the National Council for Peace and Order to state clearly what step it will take if the draft fails in the referendum.

“The prime minister’s attitude corresponds with the army chief’s intimidation against activities by political groups..”

"Invited" by military officers waiting in front of his house. Interesting. Wonder if all the mafia types that were invited to turn themselves into police last month were greeted with such a welcoming party. Both of these instances illustrate a two important points about what has been going on since May 2014: that contrary to the justification the junta provided for carrying out the coup they are neither interested in reconciliation nor stamping out corruption.

Nice priorities! Totally bass ackwards.

BTW, never did hear back from the RTP on how many influential figures took them up on their invitation last month. Of course, that was to be expected as we all know when the RTP make big announcements to go after bad guys they make a big show for the media and then announce they will nab said bad guy in 2 weeks once they have the arrest warrant. Its win-win. The bad guy gets a head start and RTP can look like they were doing their jobs.

Yes ok, how it was and still is. But how do you feel about people being carted off for having an opinion? Is it a common occurance in your country of origin?

Watana needs to be careful, as Un-Elected Prime Minister and self appointed leader Prayut - O said on SBS Australia, on the world programme, that anyone opposing the Junta could end up dead or in Jail, this comment startled the reporter that much , she signed of with from military Thailand...........................coffee1.gif

Probably not, rather I imagine to his regret.. Maybe that is why he has so enthusiastically identified himself with " Dear General/PM" and the practice here.

There will always be people who support this sort of thing because it fits in with their political views.

does attitude adjustment involve "rigorous interrogation", I wonder?

It only is signing a document that further critizism will lead to imprisonment.

To be so 'In the know' you must be on the General's distribution list. So, how do you feel about people being jailed for having an opinion? Hardly democracy, is it?

What's mind boggling is that a group of supposedly senior, intelligent, military leaders, who extend their military prowess to taking over and running the country, expect the bunch they deposed to change their attitude and behavior just because they're told to. And both groups are arrogant enough to think that whatever bllox they spout the people will believe them.

Incredible. No wonder neither faction does anything to really improve education here.

I don't normally have much use for these ex-PT characters, but I do agree with him this time!

I agree with the proviso that I'd question his motives. Wouldn't think for one second he has the interests of the Thai people at heart.

All driven by self interest - those in power and those desperate to get it back. And all for their own gain.

I see your point but as I have said previously too many people are watching now. If the dear leader even touches a hair on that mans pretty little head there will be international fall out. Even blacking out the Internet can not erase what is public knowledge now.

People go missing and questions get asked. He would do well to stay in he limelight now and is smart to go on his own terms.

Don't remember him standing up and speaking out against the whitewash amnesty PTP were trying to force through for Thaksin; or against any issues connected with the rice scheme; or ever speaking out of turn against Shin dictats.

All of the politicians, Dems, PTP, and the others have shown time and time again they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. They're only standing up for their own interests.

Thai politics needs new parties with new politicians who aren't connected to some family or faction and don't simply do as instructed in the interests of a small minority. Can't see the Junta let that happen, and neither would the Dems or PTP.

More thai politicians need to stand up instead of cowering in the corner. This country will never fix itself until a strong leadership arises and challenges the true people pulling the strings. Will it be bloody yes but, only until then will Thailand truly have peace and order
