BANGKOK: -- A Bangkok municipal water truck squashed a motorcyclist on a northern city street before the driver fled, witnesses say.

The accident happened Wednesday after 22 year old Kunat Kanthawee came off his Stallion bike in front of the waste disposal facility near the Wacharapon five way intersection in Bang Khen district, Daily News reports.

Witnesses said that the motorcyclist lost control at an accident blackspot on a surface made slippery from rubbish. A yellow Isuzu water truck arriving at that moment flattened him killing the young man instantly.

The shocked driver of the truck fled the scene in a panic.

Police are looking for Pradit Kothasuk, 46, a driver with the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority.

Locals complained that there were frequent accidents at this point in the road due to the poor surface, slippery from water and rubbish lying on the surface.

At least they knew the name of the driver.

He'll show up and apologize after he is sober.

With this story and the others I have to say that it has confirmed to myself that staying locked up in the house over this time period is the best bet, as it would appear it brings out the crazies on the road which on a normal day is not the best.

Well this story and the others in the news section has confirmed to myself that staying in over this holiday season is the safest and best bet. With all the crazies on the road it would seem very unsafe and on a normal day, it is bad enough.

What a horrible way to die, almost cartoonish like if it wasn't a real tragedy......

It seems like water is always a problem in Thailand, no matter what!

Terrible way to go, but hopefully it was instant.

There is a Thai crash compilation on YouTube with this exact scenario in it. Poor girl slips and is instantly crushed by a cement mixer. Sickening, but virtually instant.

Another Thai runner what a surprise. Let see maybe be drug or alcohol or both. Since he ran a 100 baht fine!

The highly offensive term 'squashed' was also used in the story.

Utterly shameful that bland and socially accepted words are not used in all forms of media here.

Frequent accidents due to poor road surface. So when will authorities re-cover the road? How many must die first?
