Four taxis hit by a garbage truck Thursday morning near RCA

BANGKOK — A garbage truck crashed into four taxis near the entrance to RCA around 6am Thursday, injuring six people.

31-year-old garbage truck driver Kittipong Pengrak told police that he was driving on Chaturathit road when the brake failed and his truck hit four taxis parked near RCA, a street filled with a number of bars and nightclubs.

Thailand - brake failure capital of the world.

I wonder if a break repair shop would make money here?

Please, this is not news anymore....we do not service our air brakes, we just don't care!

Good way of getting rid of a few taxi's anyway !

Isn't this what a garbage truck does? Trash them...

Kittipong, appropriate name for a garbage truck driver.

Wonder if his nick name is Pong?

Well at least they didn't have far to carry the bits.

Odd that the truck had only one brake, There is, usually, one on each wheel. Unless......yes, the footbrakes must have been ineffective for some time so the driver was using the handbrake......

Isn't there an anchor they can chuck out of the back of runaway buses and trucks? It ought to be mandatory in Thailand.

Makes me wonder if he had those 10 baht slippers on and his foot just slipped off the brake ....

I wonder if he managed to pick up any of the trash at RCA................ whistling.gif

Seems to be a lot of trouble with brake failure in Thailand,,,,Maybe it's the Climate,,,, 100% True ,,,Climate/ Brain failure /no Maintenance,,,

Thailand - brake failure capital of the world.

In the western world and even Japan brake failure was taking care of with DUAL Master cylinders (for years now all vehicles come with Dual Master cylinders) in case of one master cylinder loosing its hydraulic brake fluid the other master cylinder still works the other half of the brake system. But in case of Thailand there isn't much that can be done because PM no that does not stand for Prime Minister it stand for PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE a word Thai language is completely VOID of. In case of Brakes if you have lost hydraulic brake fluid in half the Brake system in Thailand there is the overworked word in the language "MAI PIN RAI" and just keep going till the rest of the brake system fails and you are having a crash that stops the vehicle. Mai Pin Rai.

I was told that the driver of the garbage truck was actually driving under the influence of alcohol.

Confucius say, "Not smart to refuse taxi ride to girlfriend of garbage truck driver". wai2.gif

Don't suppose any of the taxi drivers offered him a lift home.

A "BRAKE" repair shop might ------- unless your Breaks are Breakencheesy.gif

It would be a disaster.......no one would use it while they can stop their vehicle in an emergency by impacts with other vehicles.

I was told that the driver of the garbage truck was actually driving under the influence of alcohol.

Well - it IS Songkran!
