April 20, 201610 yr Hello I believe a few people have recommended this hospital for dental work for which they charge about 50,000THB for the OSSTEM implant and crown. The question I have is this: Can anyone tell me which OSSTEM implant they use and the type of crown they offer for the above price? Thank you
April 20, 201610 yr I paid 40kB for each of mine. The crowns look like a tooth. For information about the product I suggest that you ask them directly. I expect that their international sales rep Gavin Waddell can find out. http://www.phyathai-sriracha.com/en/department/international/
April 20, 201610 yr Mine were 50,000 THB for two implants and the "crowns" to fit on them at Phyathai and I trust the doctor gave me the best, but call if you are that concerned about "brands"
April 20, 201610 yr Mine were 50,000 THB for two implants and the "crowns" to fit on them ... Presumably that price was per implant?
April 20, 201610 yr Mine were 50,000 THB for two implants and the "crowns" to fit on them ... Presumably that price was per implant? No, two implants, had to pay half on day of procedure and other half will be paid upon completion and fitting of permanent bridge

No, two implants, had to pay half on day of procedure and other half will be paid upon completion and fitting of permanent bridge Dental receipt.png That is clearly a lot cheaper than I have been quoted unfortunately. The exact wording my my quote was: "The standard implant used is the "Ostem" brand from S. Korea and the cost is 50,000 Thai baht per implant including post and crown" I've actually asked about the CROWN & and type of implant since it was not mentioned above! Not really sure what to do or how to approach this topic in terms of asking why are some people being charged twice as much as others! Any advice from anyone? Edited April 20, 201610 yr by IGUN

In fact it's a hell of a lot cheaper than anything I have ever heard of here for at least 7 years. The last one that I did there should have been more than 40kB but they offered me that price as I was a repeat customer.

So you can relax since I didn't get an extraordinarily good deal @ 45,000 THB per implant (Medical Dental + Dental X 2). With the rising baht rate I probably would have been better off paying the full amount at the time, rather than having them space it out over two bills

Not a bad price though, as many places seem to add on the cost of panoramic X-rays and other extras. I have great respect for that particular dentist's ability.
April 21, 201610 yr The implantologist in the UK I consulted a few weeks ago about an implant wanted to do a "CBCT small field 3D scan" beforehand as a matter of routine, if I was going to go ahead with the implant. I think as much as anything this would've been to check precisely the location of the nerve in the jaw (ie you wouldn't want an implant going too near that nerve) but I may be wrong.Does anyone know: do implantologists in Thailand do these scans in additions to xrays? Or do they just work from xrays? As part of the initial consultation the UK implantologist also took a load of photos inside my mouth and then stitched them together to form a 3D image of my mouth. Thanks.

At Phyathai for me they did what I call a panoramic Xray (large device that rotates around your head). Other smaller clinics I have come across here just do the "old-fashioned" sort of X-ray that involves using a small piece of film that you hold in place with your teeth. This is one reason (of many) why I didnt want those smaller clinics doing my implants. My dentist in Europe had a small device that gave an instant digital rendition of the area on a monitor which may be the thing you are talking about, but I've not seen that used here. Edit: Hmmm. This is the sort of device that Phyathai use. Apparently that's the type of CBCT scan you refer to, though all my dentists have always called it a panoramic X-ray (maybe just simplifying for clients). Edited April 21, 201610 yr by KittenKong
April 21, 201610 yr Actually looking at more pictures on Google, I wonder if they machine they use isn't more like this one: which apparently is a panoramic Xray machine, though I dont know what the difference in the way they work is. Maybe some expert will come along and put us out of our misery!
April 22, 201610 yr A bit off topic but my tgf needed some dental work doing recently. We went to a dentist on Soi Bhuakhao and they quoted 80,000 baht. I thought that was high and decided to go to Phyathai for a second opinion. They said they could do it for 15,000. Time will tell if they do good work but they certainly seem cheaper.

That's a big difference. Do you know if both prices were for the same procedures? Maybe Phyathai did it a different way, or didn't add on any unnecessary extras? For what it's worth I have found Phyathai to be quite expensive for "regular" dental work like cleaning, fillings etc and so I generally only go there for implants and implant-related work.
