tbthailand
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has acknowledged the achievements of the Royal Thai Police over the past six months, lauding the agency for maintaining public safety and suppressing human trafficking. I believe that this statement is (1) political, and (2) creates confusion Off with the general... to AA with you!
tuanku
Here is how they look at performance in some other countries. Here they put some pictures on large boards, the DPM has a quick look before a long lunch and declares himself satisfied - well I suppose its easier then defining targets and measuring achievement. scorecard
The RTP couldn't strip Thaksin of his police rank. Prayut had to do it by invoking Article 44. Which could mean: - The RTP is still under the control of the paymaster, and/or - The RTP is very frightened of what might happen with revenge is PT ever get back into power. berybert
They haven't done any major stitch-ups since the Koh Tao debacle, so that has to be an improvement. Are you sure ? I seem to recall there are 4 Burmese guys currently in a Thai jail on charges of murdering a Thai woman even tho there is CCTV images proving they were elsewhere at the time of the murder. selftaopath
This is is gonna be a bit of a spanner in the works for all the Junta fans who reckoned the Army were were going to be the initiators of change and the destroyers of corruption. Are you insinuating that the RTP are in dire need of complete reform and that the total lack of action from Uncle Too clearly demonstrates that all talk of fighting corruption is just <deleted>? What a preposterous accusation!! No action - on the contrary the Army have been given powers of arrest; the Army and Navy "accompany" the police when carrying out certain raids or investigations; and several high profile cases, involving the wealthy, well connected, have been allowed to sort of fizzle out and disappear off the radar. So if the police are now doing such a sterling job, how come the military are taking an increasing role in police activities? And how come all those cases involving rich well connected people are again going nowhere except round and round the garden? I guess being satisfied is dependent on what your expectations were in the first place! Thainess:
Jonmarleesco
I wonder how many weeks he needed to add together to come up with that gem? But one look at him in the photo would seem to say it all.

BeefSlapper
Deputy PM satisfied with 6-month performance of police BANGKOK, 22 April 2016 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has acknowledged the achievements of the Royal Thai Police over the past six months, lauding the agency for maintaining public safety and suppressing human trafficking. Gen Prawit was led by National Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda on a tour of an exhibition showcasing the agency’s operations and progress made within a six-month period in such areas as the eradication of human trafficking and transnational crimes, provision of safety for tourists and maintenance of national security. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed he was satisfied with the police’s work, pointing out that they have been hard at work to keep various situations under control and to fulfill the goals of government policy. He noted that the fight against crimes and human trafficking in the fishing industry has led to the prosecution of many cases as well as the submission of progress reports to the United States. Regarding the southern unrest, Gen Prawit encouraged the police to continue to work with the military and local administrative officials in protecting lives and facilitating the ongoing peace dialogue. He also affirmed the government’s readiness to give them both technological and financial support to ensure further improvements. -- NNT 2016-04-22 Give them 2mil award then 55Sent from my SM-A800F using Tapatalk
lvr181
OMG - there is more to "crime fighting" than what goes on in the fishing industry! No wonder there was no mention of any other possible "successes". Because there has been none?
