BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation has given an ultimatum for Phra Dhammachayo, abbot of Wat Dhammakaya, to turn himself in to acknowledge the charges against him on April 25.

DSI director-general Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang said Friday that the DSI’s panel of enquiry officers met with the public prosecutor in charge of the case involving Phra Dhammachayo to consider the request form the monk’s lawyer, Mr Samphan Sermcheep, to postpone the appointment with the DSI set on April 25 on the ground that the temple’s abbot would be busy tending to religious engagements on that particular day.

The meeting however rejected the lawyer’s request claiming that the enquiry officers had already given him one postponement already on April 8.

Pol Col Paisit warned that Phra Dhammachayo would face legal action if he fails to turn up as appointed on April 25.

The controversial abbot is facing charges of money laundering and receiving stolen items for receiving several bank cheques worth hundreds of million baht from Mr Supachai Srisupa-aksorn, former chairman of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives.

I rather think the other the monks could handle things at abbot.

Please. This monk knew his appointment already and scheduled something else to happen that day so he could use it as an excuse. Seems to me that he wants to avoid this at all costs. It would not surprise me if he fails to show and instead has 1000 monks rally at his side to block the DSI from carrying out a warrant to arrest him.

Scumbag

The grin on his face tells me how much he doesn't give a dam about it.........

......or else what.....

Another example of a Piece of Guano working the system. Sad that he was suppose to represent something of enlightenment and respect. Too much of the personal drama of "me" and I will "F" out of your money. However, fits right into the scheme of Some.... Tax Free Men of the southern crosses... The Lord told me to do it... a million in my pocket.whistling.gifthumbsup.gifwai2.gif

Turn up or else !

Or else we'll have to set another date for you to ignore

Monks with lawyers....

''Phra Dhammachayo told to show up at the DSI on April 25 or else…''

I'm sure the Abbot is quaking in his sandals. Reminds me of British police chasing a suspect, ''Stop or I'll blow my whistle really hard...''

Just go and arrest the a hole and off to the cell.
