Predawn fire engulfs footwear factory in Krathumban

BANGKOK: -- A predawn fire at a rubber footwear factory in Krathumban district of Samut Sakhon province Monday damaged the whole factory with initial damages estimated at over 10 million baht.

Krathumban police said the fire happened around 5.30 at PPL Rubber and Footwear in Tambon Klong Madua of Krathumban district.

Nobody was working when the fire started. All workers were staying at their places near the factory building inside the compound of two rai.

One worker told police there was a sound of explosion before the fire was seen at the closed factory where raw materials, mainly rubber, were stored.

Six fire trucks arrived at the scene but could only keep the fire at the factory building from spreading to other adjacent building.

After two hours of raging the factory roof collapsed to the ground.

It was not immediately known the exact cause of fire as forensic police were inspecting the damaged factory late this morning.

Probably arson if there is insurance and debts.

Breaking news....Police went hotfoot to the scene.

You'd think they'd at least have a sole security guard.

  • 6 months later...

They most likely had a security guard but he was bound to be asleep by 5.30am. Probably just some Chinese auditing being carried out.
