CDC invited famous artists to help promote understanding of new draft charter

BANGKOK, 28 April 2016 (NNT) – The Constitution drafting Commission has invited a group of known artists to help with the dissemination of accurate information about the draft charter ahead of the public referendum.

CDC member Supachai Yawaprapas said on Wednesday that the charter drafters already met with famous artists from all regions across Thailand and asked them to write a song to help people understand the new draft charter.

Contributors to the project include the director of Watchanglek School, local philosophers and students who will write a melody for the song about the national reform process that is mentioned in the draft charter, Mr. Supachai said.

He added that the CDC hopes that the song will help members of the public understand key points of the draft, which are beneficial for both the country and all citizens.

Mr. Supachai went on to say that the CDC will send more information to the Election Commission on April 29 so that it will be included in the booklets, which will be sent to 17 million households across the country.

Pee Wee Herman is fully booked. Sorry. gigglem.gif

"...asked them to write a song to help people understand the new draft charter."

Just what is needed, another song for all the children to sing every morning at school, without any of them understanding one word of it.

I wonder who would be brave enough to draw the ancient sign of fruitfulness.coffee1.gif

A complicated political document is always best understood with a little ditty.

At the UN they sing songs all day long.

Long ago, the American constitution topped the charts for months; as did the Magna Carta.

Why all this needless commentary about a new constitution? As soon as they start losing their grip on power, the military will just rip it up and write another one, buying time so that they can keep their noses in the trough. That's what they always do.

Oh Charter, Oh Charter,

Sing praises to thee.

Thailand is LOS,

Vote for this POS,

So says Army.

Thailand is such a bizarre country.

Thailand is such a bizarre country.

I think we have to see this initiative in the context of how the "PM" understands reality. He is obviously an ultra-nationalist and royalist with a strong belief in the Sakdina system.

I think he actually believes that what he does is the right thing to do for the country, and that makes me very, very afraid.

I don't doubt for one moment that he truly believes he's doing the right and best things for the country.

The bit that really scares me is the perpetuation of the Sakdina system. Until that changes the chances of real change and reform are zero.

I think he is just being a general. Nothing more, nothing less.

Artists generally don't write songs, song writers do mr. Supachai.

A picture is worth a 1000 words

You don't doubt....what?

You are very, very naive!

Doing your best for the country + Sakdina = Taking care of the elite and screw all of the lower castes.

Thankfully times have and are continuing to change and he looks like the dinosaur he is.

Fitting for a nation of infants.

"Now I know my ABCs... must obey or they'll take me...."

Didn't the Floyd already write one? "We don't need no education..."

How about a cover of The Clash - Know Your Rights:

Oops: Number 1 - "You have a right not to be killed, unless it's done by a policeman."

Do you think that the general doesn't believe he's doing the right things, ultra nationalist, highly conservative far right of center and preserving the Sakdina systems is the best thing for Thailand? You think he's just acting like his predecessor or something?

Of course he believes it.

You don't have any idea what I'm like, or much else really. Sad.

I didn't know they have mimes in Thailand. Speak no evil..

Seems your 99.7% right .

The law says if you don't ""understand "" Thaksin has violated the "" good Thai citizen in you"" and ""adjustments may be required"
