webfact Posted April 28, 2016 Share Posted April 28, 2016 Real estate mogul Robert Durst gets 7 years for gun chargeBY BNO NEWSNEW ORLEANS: -- Real estate mogul Robert Durst, who has been under suspicion for years over the deaths of three people over the course of three decades, has been sentenced to more than 7 years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon with a firearm, prosecutors say.Durst, 73, received Wednesday’s sentence of 85 months as part of a guilty plea reached in Louisiana on February. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and his prison sentence will be followed by 3 years of supervised release.The gun charge followed a search of Durst’s New Orleans hotel room in March 2015. His family owned about 10 very large high rise buildings in NYC...he's a real character...disguising himself as a woman while on the run...check out the HBO documentary...you'll laugh at how the film makers finally get a confession from him... spidermike007 Posted April 29, 2016 Share Posted April 29, 2016 The refreshing aspect of this story, is that occasionally, in the US, even the rich and well connected go to prison. Would someone like this EVER get convicted, and serve a seven year prison sentence in Thailand? I highly doubt it. Guys this rich seem to just buy their way out of trouble here. It is shameful.
