Construction of a road bridge is underway near town on 1211, the heavy trucks involved causing traffic chaos and considerable dust and road dirt as a hill is demolished closer to our village to supply filling.

I can only assume that it's part of the new Chiang Rai ring road.

This government seems to be really pushing infrastructure and roadwork. We almost never get to the West side of town but were invited to a friends house after Sunday brunch. Hardly recognized the area and did notice major clearing for what looked like a road.

Even out East they have recently finished 6km of resurfacing starting at our village and are finishing off another 3km near Sop Pao.
We are heading to the university later and I think I will check out the underpass at the airport and drive that new section all the way to the end.
Noticed a new stoplight at the southern end of the ring road coming back from Chiang Mai the other day but have yet to drive on it. Things they are a changing.

It may be selfish but I'm glad they decided to do it closer to town rather than make the old Chiang Mai road part of it.

I noticed that the final southern stretch of the new airport road is now open and connects to the Super Highway

It is worthy to take note of all of the roads and railroad situation. I have listed below my knowledge. Please add to it or correct me. These roads were all approved during the last government and receive yearly funding. Most should be complete in about 4-5 years. The railroad was approved by the current government.

1.At the entrance of the airport road it starts, runs near Hua Pra Klang and keeps going with a new bridge, It passes through Baan Hong O west of Den Haa and continues for a bout 20 km to connect with the road coming from near the bus station. I think this two roads will connect near the white temple.

2. A new highway will be built parallel to 118 to Chiang Mai it connects to the ring roads near the white temple. The Chinese have contracts to bore a lot of tunnels. Previously Yingluck said this would be a toll road.

3. A new road from Chiang Kong that connects with the Chiang Rai ring road and then heads south to Bangkok. 85 tunnels will have to be dug as it goes the Pitsanulok way. Chinese will build these tunnels. This road also intersects the new road from Chiang Sean to Chiang Kong.

4. The railroad is awaiting the Ministry of Transport to finish it's analysis and is expected to be submitted to the cabinet next month. The EIA will be done while they are going out for bids under S-44. This railroad will connect with the dual tract from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in at Den Chai in Phare.
